Raton MainStreet Welcomes New Executive Director

Raton MainStreet (RMS) would like to announce that it has hired a new Executive Director.  The RMS Board, under the direction of its Organization Committee, evaluated a large number of resumes that had been responses to job-postings in local and national media.  After a long search process, Ms. Stacie Hull has accepted the MainStreet offer.

Ms. Hull comes to our local program with four years of MainStreet experience from her previous Nationally Certified MainStreet community in Corning, Iowa.  That community has built a program of over twenty years duration.  It is this perspective that Ms. Hull brings to the City of Raton.   RMS is still a relatively young entity, now in its third full year as a certified community after two years as a “startup” beginning in 2005.  We are poised to move into a new phase of initiatives with the help of Ms. Hull’s experience.   Some of her previous accomplishments include: a façade incentive program; downtown cleanups; a building inventory with historical attributes and building uses; major regional events; the use of social media for communication.  We look forward to incorporating all of these into our local initiatives.

In addition to previous MainStreet experience, Ms. Hull was involved with the Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Corporation.  This multifaceted background was seen by the RMS Board as extremely important in the Board’s choice of an Executive Director.  Ms. Hull’s understanding of the charters of these other groups, who are natural partners for RMS, will be vital to the growth of present and future projects in the Downtown.   Based upon her background, she can insure that those projects match Raton MainStreet’s “prime directive” of the revitalization of the Historic Downtown District.

Coincident with the new Executive Director coming to Raton, Raton MainStreet moved into the Shuler Theater.  This affords RMS an office that we did not have previously.  Ms. Hull will have her office in the Shuler along with Bill Fegan and the Santa Fe Trail School for the Performing Arts.  RMS will now be able to keep normal business hours which will make us more accessible to the entire community.

Ms. Hull’s introduction to her work was very quick.  Her first task, besides settling into life in Raton, is the coordination of an Arts and Culture District review by a Resource Team from Santa Fe.  This is the first step in our major effort to make Raton a functioning Arts and Culture District.  It is critical to our future economic development.  On the 11th, 12th and 13th of May, this Team will review our arts and cultural resources.  They will culminate the meetings with a public session to review their findings.  The arrangements are many and Ms. Hull is fully immersed in them.

The Board of RMS has welcomed Ms. Hull to Raton and asks that you, the citizens of Raton, do the same.  Please take advantage of the office in the Shuler to introduce yourself and ask questions about our program.
